Databricks' AI coding and data assistant, part of the Genie family alongside Genie One and Genie Agents. Genie Code is available in notebooks, the SQL editor, the Lakeflow Pipelines Editor, AI/BI dashboards, MLflow and the Genie Code file editor and command centre.

  Interactive, user-initiated multi-step agent mode of Databricks Genie Code. Agent mode plans a solution, retrieves relevant Databricks assets and context, generates and executes code, inspects outputs, adapts its approach, fixes errors automatically and can modify supported Databricks workspace objects, acting with the interacting user's permissions. Scheduled Genie Code tasks and the Genie Code task for Lakeflow Jobs are separate mechanisms and are excluded from this record.

  Genie Code scheduled tasks let a user save a Genie Code prompt together with a recurring time schedule. At each scheduled time Genie Code executes the stored prompt as a full background Genie Code session without the user present, and each run produces a new Genie Code chat that can afterwards be inspected or continued interactively. Distinct from interactive Agent mode: initiation is time-scheduled rather than human-prompted, and Auto-approve is always enabled and cannot be turned off for scheduled runs.
