Smart Assist conversational data actions

Smart Assist is Smartsheet's embedded conversational AI. Through natural-language interaction it can retrieve and analyse Smartsheet data and invoke Smartsheet's supported tool surface to perform persistent operations on Smartsheet-hosted state, including sheets, columns, rows, workspaces, discussions, comments, reports, workflows, dashboards, portfolios, scenarios and attachments. Creation intent is handled within the same Smart Assist experience: Smart Assist can identify creation intent, propose an asset set, request approval and then create the supported Smartsheet structures. Not every request changes state; analysis, retrieval and recommendation responses are distinct from persistent actions.

Available on Pro, Business, Enterprise and Advanced Work Management plans per reproduced Smartsheet documentation. Availability in a given account further depends on plan eligibility, administrator AI capability settings and the individual user's Smartsheet access permissions. Default state "enabled" means enabled for the eligible capability surface unless administratively disabled; it does not mean Smart Assist is universally available to every Smartsheet customer.

Limitations and uncertainty
Confirmation is conditional: approval behaviour is documented for some paths, including creation flows where Smart Assist proposes the intended asset set before building it and file-derived proposed-action flows requiring approval. No universal platform-enforced confirmation gate before every Smartsheet write is established, and Smartsheet documents that the underlying action layer provides no universal native dry-run, transaction or undo mechanism; safer execution patterns must be requested or designed by the user.
