AI Task Creation and Recommendations

Zoom Tasks uses AI to recommend new tasks based on meeting summaries, call summaries and meeting and phone transcripts, to generate task details such as description, due date and priority from a task title, and to suggest steps for completing a task.

Recorded characteristics

Function
Zoom documents that, with Zoom Tasks and AI, users can have AI recommend new tasks based on meeting summaries, call summaries, and meeting and phone transcripts. Recommended tasks appear in a dedicated Recommended list in the Tasks tab and under Next Steps within a Meeting Summary or a past Zoom Calendar event. AI can generate details for an existing task - task description, due date and priority - based on the task title, with options to regenerate the results or undo the generated description. AI can also suggest steps for completing a task through an AI actions menu, including suggested actions, other actions and an Ask AI option for additional suggestions.
Data access
Zoom documents the AI task functionality drawing on meeting summaries, call summaries, and meeting and phone transcripts. Generation of task details is documented as based on the title of the task. Broader access to other Zoom account data is not established by this documentation.

Administrative control
The documented requirements include Zoom Tasks enabled and Task creation and management with AI enabled; Zoom links to separate articles on enabling and disabling Zoom Tasks and on enabling task creation and management with AI, described as account owner and admin control over the use of AI for predictive suggestions. For call summaries, the article documents a setting Automatically generate tasks from phone call summary, and states that call participants can be automatically added as task collaborators based on admin configuration. The account, group or user scope of these settings is not established by this article.

Limitations and uncertainty
Zoom does not document this capability creating a task without user acceptance: recommended tasks are added when the user clicks Accept, and generated task details are produced in the task detail view with Regenerate results and Undo options rather than a documented save-and-confirm step, so the point at which generated details become saved task state is not established. Suggested steps are presented as suggestions. The documentation does not establish the identity or permission set under which the AI functionality executes, its default enablement state, or whether it can act in systems outside Zoom; Zoom Tasks integration with external project management tools such as Jira is documented for Zoom Tasks generally, not as an action of this AI capability. Availability is limited by license, Zoom Tasks and AI feature enablement, minimum application versions, and Zoom's note that AI features may not be available for select verticals and select regional customers. No external model or provider is identified for this capability.
