Research Suppliers with AI

An Oracle Fusion Cloud Sourcing AI agent that interprets a category manager's natural-language description of the suppliers they need and returns a list of matching suppliers, together with a summary of how it interpreted the request. Oracle documents the agent searching purchase agreements, purchase orders, negotiations and supplier profile records. The human reviews the matching results, selects suppliers, sets supplier site, contact and additional email, optionally restricts which negotiation lines each supplier may view and respond to, and submits; Oracle attributes the addition of suppliers and the sending of negotiation invitations to that human Submit action, not to the agent.

Oracle describes an AI-driven search experience in which the user describes, in natural language, the suppliers they are looking for based on the items or services they want to procure. Oracle states that "the AI agent will understand your search request and provide you a list of suppliers by searching historical transactions and the supplier profile" and that it "will also present a summary of how it interpreted your search request to provide the supplier list". The agent is reached from the Research Suppliers (New) action on the Redwood Sourcing landing page (update 26B), from the Suppliers step of negotiation creation via the Research and Add Suppliers page (update 26C), and from the Manage Suppliers page of a published negotiation via the Research and Add action (update 26D). In the update 26D flow Oracle documents the sequence: select Research and Add; use natural language to search for suppliers; review the matching results; select the suppliers you want to invite to the negotiation; update supplier details such as site, contact and additional email; optionally select Restrict Line Access to grant or revoke access for one or more suppliers and lines; and Submit "to add the suppliers and send negotiation invitations, including any line restrictions". Every documented persistent change to the negotiation therefore follows the user's own Submit action; Oracle does not document the agent adding a supplier, sending an invitation or changing line access on its own. Oracle states that suppliers who are already invited cannot be added again, and that each supplier must have access to at least one negotiation line. Oracle does not state whether submission creates a negotiation amendment or version, whether existing suppliers are notified, or whether deadlines change.

Oracle states that the search "is performed within purchase agreements, purchase orders, negotiations, and supplier profile records". Oracle states the AI can understand queries about negotiation line items and their descriptions, purchasing categories of items, and supplier keywords comprising supplier name, alternate name, parent supplier name, supplier number, DUNS number and business classification of suppliers; users can also ask the AI to exclude certain result types, for example suppliers with a given business classification. Update 26C adds matching on products and services categories in the supplier profile and on business relationship (for example Spend Authorized or Prospective), and adds business classification, purchasing category, qualification name and qualification outcome as filters, with search results showing a Confidence Rating and the matched category name. Oracle states that supplier keyword search uses an elastic search index (index fa-prc-suppliers) and that supplier suggestion data comes from a model periodically retrained on transactions extracted by the Prepare Smart Supplier Suggestions scheduled process. In the update 26D flow the agent operates in the context of a published negotiation and its lines. Oracle does not document the agent searching the public web or any data outside these Oracle Procurement records.

The agent was introduced in update 26B as "AI Agent: Research Suppliers with AI"; update 26C added research and add during negotiation creation ("Redwood: Research and Add Suppliers in Draft Negotiations") and expanded matching to supplier-profile products and services categories; update 26D added "Research and invite additional suppliers", which extends the same agent to the Manage Suppliers page of an already-published negotiation and combines it with line-access restriction. Each surface requires the setup described under administrative controls, so it is not automatically available. Oracle does not state a preview or limited-availability status, and does not document regional or language restrictions; Oracle notes that automatic language translation of suggested search queries was not supported in update 26B.

Oracle does not document ranking logic beyond the Confidence Rating shown in update 26C, does not describe the underlying model, and does not state whether the supplier list is a recommendation or a retrieval result. Oracle does not document whether submission creates a negotiation amendment or new version, whether already-invited suppliers are re-notified, whether response deadlines change, or whether an AI-specific audit record is kept; ordinary sourcing transaction history is not asserted here. Update 26B states that in that update users could not search by supplier products and services categories, by procurement BU, business relationship, qualification name and outcome, or assessment name and outcome, could not search approved supplier lists, and could not research and add suppliers while creating a negotiation; update 26C removes several of these limits but states that qualification name and outcome cannot be used when researching and adding suppliers to a negotiation. Whether supplier detail updates entered in this flow (site, contact, additional email) change supplier master data or only the negotiation invitation record is not established; Oracle describes them as supplier details for the invitation.
